Calum, Problems with updating Hephestos 2 firmware

  • Hi,

I have tried to upload new firmware to the Hephestos 2 using the steps outlined from the website: https://github.com/bq/Marlin/blob/master/Documentation/Windows_Compilation.md

I am using a windows machine.

I connected the printer and laptop as instructed and assigned the correct COMs port. I made no changes to the firmware directory file apart from in Configeration adv and Configeration. These changes where also minimal e.g changing the printable area limits.

When I tried to upload my new firmware to the printer the attached error file was produced.

The sample area where the problem occurred is shown below:

avrdude: AVR device initialized and ready to accept instructions

    Reading | ################################################## | 100% 0.06s

    avrdude: Device signature = 0x1e9801
avrdude: safemode: lfuse reads as FE
avrdude: safemode: hfuse reads as D8
avrdude: safemode: efuse reads as FE
    avrdude: reading input file "bin/Work"
avrdude: input file bin/Work auto detected as ELF
avrdude: can't handle ELF file bin/Work, ELF file support was not compiled in
avrdude: read from file 'bin/Work' failed

avrdude: safemode: lfuse reads as FE
avrdude: safemode: hfuse reads as D8
avrdude: safemode: efuse reads as FE
    avrdude: safemode: Fuses OK (H:FE, E:D8, L:FE)

    avrdude done.  Thank you.

    make: *** [upload] Error 1
    "  RMDIR bin/"
    "  RM    .config_mach"
    "  RM    .config_lang"

    Press enter to exit...

Has anyone else had any issues with this? I have tried emailing the Bq Support team, but haven't received any feedback on the issue apart from to make sure I am using the correct version of Arduino, 1.6.7, which I am.

Thank you very much for any help,

    Best Regards,
    Calum MacLeod
