logopqThe first question you might have when you want to change device or perform a hard reset is how to save a copy of your contacts to retrieve them later on. In this article I’ll explain how to make a security copy of each of the storage locations available on your BQ device, and how to restore them when needed. You’ll also see that the process is slightly different depending on whether you have an SoC MediaTek or an SoC Qualcomm device.

On Android contacts can be saved in different locations: on the SIM, on the device, in a Gmail account, and so on. It’s always advisable, even essential, not to have your contacts duplicated over different locations. Having all of your contacts in a single location and not having them spread over various accounts will make them easier to find when it comes to copying them.

Copying and restoring contacts on MediaTek devices

First of all, open the “Contacts” application, click the three dots in the bottom right corner, and select “Import/export”.

Select the location you want to copy from, click next, then choose the location you want to export to, click next and then select the contacts you want to copy.

If you want to select them all, click the drop-down menu at the top of the screen and click “Select all”. Click “OK” in the top right corner and wait for them to be copied.

NB: When contacts are exported to the SIM, it’s important to take the limitations of the SIM card into account. Some contacts may not be exported due to the number of characters or fields.
